Room 5 Wins Again!
How many times have you seen a teacher breaking her back and finger and catching a ball at the same time? Last Thursday we played baseball. First we had to get a partner and catch the ball to get warmed up. Then we had a game with Room 6. Mrs Manickum went onto the other team because that is what you call sportsmanship. She caught the balls that Ethan, Carlos and Kryzjon hit. But do you know what? Room 5 still beat Room 6 and at the end we showed sportsmanship by shaking their hands. It was fun playing with Aaron. One day when I grow up I want to be like him, but a professional player!

Mr Mac's Visit

Have you ever felt so happy when someone new came to your school? Guess what? A visitor came to St Patrick’s and made us laugh. His name was Mr Mac. Mr Mac came on 4th April to our Duffy Role Model Assembly. He came to tell us the importance of staying at school. Mr Mac “wagged” school when he was young. There was a sad part in his life. His arm got crushed by a truck! When Mr Mac told us the process of writing a book I felt inspired because writing a book is awesome! I wish that Mr Mac could have told us some more of his life story and showed more pictures from his Doug the Digger stories. I’m so grateful that I met and saw Mr Mac.

Duffy Role Model Assembly

Do you get inspired when you read cool books? Why? Well I am going to tell you about this person that writes books for the juniors. His name is Mr Mac. When he was younger he always wagged school. He mucked around when his teacher said something and talked to his friends so when he went to his desk he did not know the instructions. Every time Mr Mac had a test he got 12 or 15 out of a hundred. He left school when he was fifteen years old. Mr Mac likes to drive trucks. One day when he was driving his truck Mr Mac had an accident with his right arm. He couldn’t work because his arm got crushed. So he decided to write a book. When he was going to write the book he didn’t know his alphabet and numbers so he went back to the junior school to learn for three years. When Mr Mac was 30 years old he started writing his own book about Doug the digger. Mr Mac’s visit has inspired me. His life story now makes me want to be a better writer!
BASEBALL
How does it feel when you try your best to hit the ball but then you get out? I’ve been there today when we were playing baseball. The first thing we had to do was warm up. I had to get a partner, who was Frankie. When we finished my class had to field and Room 6 batted. It was so much fun getting Room 6 out. I am looking forward to playing next week because I want to try even better to get a home run.
