A Blast From The Past by Mei Ethan

Have you ever thought of making something that’s been around for millions of years?

In week 9 of Term 3 Mrs Manickum asked Room 5 to make wind chimes. Wind chimes have been around ever since the ancient Chinese invented them millions of years ago. After being split into groups we had to research about the wind chimes’ history. At the end of the research we had to present the information to the class. We were put into new groups to make the wind chimes. I was with Angelina, Phontain, Kryzjon and Agnes. I was astonished at how challenging it was to make a simple wind chime, but we came up with a simple design. Using a wooden hanger with drilled holes we threaded in the fishing line with brass tubes tied to it. For the clapper we used a brass plate. After securing the brass tubes the final product was sold on Mission Day. I felt happy making the wind chime so the person who bought it could have fun and hear it’s wonderful music.
