Tessellation

In maths we continued with our geometry work, which was tessellation using tiles.
Mrs Manickum said to Room 5, “We are going to use the tiles that Tevita’s dad gave to us for making tessellating patterns.”

We all worked on our own using the big and small square tiles. Kryzjon came up with the idea of using the bigger tiles for his pattern but he changed his mind and used the small tiles. I made a pattern that looked just like the floor in my nana’s bathroom.

The rules of a tessellating pattern are;
There must be no gaps, no overlapping (one on top of each other) there must be a vertex (corners must meet). When I completed my tessellating pattern, Kryzjon told me it was so cool then I replied back to him “Wow your one is so amazing,” Kryzjon said “Thank you Carlos.”

GUM SHOULD BE ALLOWED AT SCHOOL

I think gum should NOT be allowed at school.

Firstly, children might spit it on the floor.

Secondly, it could spread germs around the school.

Lastly, a child could step on the gum and get it stuck on their shoe.

That is why gum should not be allowed at school.

New Zealand's Futsal Whites

How do you feel when you write to a sports team? Well guess what? We were emailing messages to the Futsal Whites. OMG!! Did you know that the Futsal Whites are V E R Y good and that they have a strong defence? The Futsal Whites are representing New Zealand. And did you know that they are acftually in Fiji? In the Futsal Whites there is a young player called Dylan Manickum. He is quick and skilfull and he has the ability to score goals in matches. Dylan's mother is Ingrid Manickum, a teacher at St Patrick's School. Miss Lorenzo took pictures of us holding our Futsal Whites banner that we made. The Futsal Whites are very good, fast players and are the COOLEST that I know! I really hope they win their next match against Vanuatu. To watch them visit http://www.oceaniafootball.com/
