Being Scared

Have you ever been scared going on something that takes you around, like a bus? I have.

On Saturday, 10 September at 12:45pm my brother, dad and I went to the big screens in the city on a train which I was very “scared” to go on. When we passed the river MAN I was scared because it felt like the train was going to fall in the water. I asked my dad if the train was going to fall in the water. He said to me “Are you dreaming?” So I turned around and talked to my brother about it. When we got to the city I was happy to get off the train. We walked from the train station to the big screens. We waited and waited and waited until something came up on the screens that said “Tongan team in shed ten”. I ran like I was running to score a try on the rugby field and when I got to the shed I felt like I was going to faint. I saw the team and got them to sign my rugby T shirt and I got to take pictures with them. That was a day that cheered me up. The next day I felt sad because all the pictures from Saturday were deleted!

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

You Will Need:
4 measuring cups
1 big bowl
1 fork
1 spoon
1 plate
muffin tray

Ingredients:
4 bananas
½ cup of sugar
3 cups of flour
2/3 cup of water

Method:
1. Mash bananas.
2. Sift all dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl.
3. Add the wet ingredients and mix it all.
4. Pour mixture into muffin trays and bake in a moderate heat oven for 15-20 minutes.
5. Serve nice and cool.

Gum Should Be Allowed At School

I think gum should not be allowed in school because…..

First of all it makes the school grounds yucky and messy.

Secondly, children don’t concentrate on their work when they chew gum.

Lastly, children will play with gum and get germs then they’ll be sick.

So please, please teachers don’t change the rules to negative rules, so children can bring gum to school.

St Patrick's Shouldn't Have Rubbish Bins

I think St Patrick's shouldn't have rubbish bins beacuse.....

First of all seagulls come and take rubbish out of the bins.

Secondly the rubbish bins don't get emptied out for one or two weeks.

Lastly, in the weekend people come to our school and throw their rubbish everywhere instead of using the bins.

So please Principal and teachers take away the rubbish bins!

All Children Should Get Holiday Homework

I think children should not get holiday homework.

Firstly, if they don’t do their homework they will get into trouble the first day of school.

Secondly, the homework might be too hard for children.

Lastly, the children might hate the homework.

So please don’t give out holiday homework teachers!

The Futsal Whites

In Social Skills we are learning about relating to others. This morning we wrote emails to the Futsal Whites who are New Zealand's indoor football team. We wrote to them to cheer them up because in their game yesterday they lost against Tahiti 7-6. We traced out soccer players and made a banner for our Futsal Whites team in Fiji. Just before buddy reading time we went outside and took a picture of us with the banner. Today, 20 May the Futsal Whites are playing against Vanuatu at 5:00pm (NZ time) and I wish you'll watch and CHEER FOR THEM!!! Visit http://www.oceaniafootball.com/

St Patrick's Pool

A tennis court – just a good place for a crane to put a heavy load on. In the holidays St Patrick’s school got a pool on the tennis court.

On Wednesday which was our day for aquatics I was nervous to get into the pool because that was my first time seeing a pool in our school. I went with my whole class and when I got into the pool I felt I was in a hot place just like a spa.

It was nice for Watersafe Auckland to lend us the pool.
That was my coolest day ever!

Mr Mac Attack

Have you ever seen your deputy Principal dance before? On Monday after Religious Education we had a Duffy Role Model Assembly. Our visitor’s name was Mr Mac Attack. At the beginning of assembly Mr Mac got up, went to Mrs Dines and started dancing. When they were dancing the other teachers were jealous! Mr Mac told us that when he was thirteen years old he used to wag school and fail tests. When he was twenty five he thought about writing a book so he went back to school to learn his numbers and how to read and write. That was a day that taught me a lot about writing.

The Wild West Gang by Joy Cowley

My favourite character was uncle Leo because he always made jokes. The funniest thing that happened was when one of the West kids brought a dead rabbit into the bedroom. The scary part was when the Wests went camping and then uncle Leo was making ghost sounds. I didn't like the part when the dead rabbit was brought into the house. I would recommend this book to Room 4 because this might be the first chapter book they read.
