Our Swimming Pool

Fences are there to keep people out of places or maybe keep people safe. We have a fence at school around the tennis court. In the holidays they built a pool and put a fence around it so nobody can go in there.

St Patrick’s School was surprised that they had a pool from Watersafe Auckland. But before we get into the pool we have to wash our feet in a bucket of water, then we go up the ladder to get inside the pool. The first time I went in the water it was comfortable, cosy and warm. I smelt something. I knew it was a chemical called chlorine.

I felt happy and nervous at the same time going in the pool because it was like a dream.

How long did it take before you got used to swimming there? You probably enjoyed your first time and swam all day long together with your friends, didn't you? Anyway… the students can help in maintaining the pool's sanitation by making sure their feet are clean before swimming. That's quite a good strategy.
